Key concepts

RansomLeak teaches security awareness through realistic, interactive scenarios instead of slides. Learners play through attacks as Alice, a regular employee, and learn by making decisions and seeing the consequences.

Everything on the platform is built from a handful of pieces:

Concept What it is
Exercise A single interactive scenario, usually a short 3D scene, that ends with a quiz. The basic unit of training.
Drill A short, focused exercise on one threat: phishing emails, deepfakes, SMS phishing, chat, MFA fatigue, voice calls, QR codes, fake login pages and more.
Course A set of exercises on one topic. Learners can take courses at their own pace.
Custom content Your own SCORM packages or documents (PDF, presentation, video, audio, image), uploaded to RansomLeak.
Learning path A curriculum made of exercises, drills, courses and custom content, optionally with a required order. See Learning paths.
Campaign Assigned training with a start date and a deadline, used for mandatory and compliance training. A campaign contains either exercises and courses, or one learning path.
Certificate A PDF issued when a learner completes a course or a learning path.
Achievement A badge learners earn for milestones such as streaks and perfect scores.
  • Learning paths define what people learn. They have no deadline of their own.
  • Campaigns define when. Put a learning path into a campaign to give it a start date, a deadline and reminders.
  • Team rules can add a simple deadline. A learning path assigned automatically to everyone joining a team can be due within a set number of days, with one reminder and one overdue notice. Use a campaign when you need a start date, escalating reminders or campaign reporting.
  • Quizzes decide completion. An exercise counts as complete when the learner passes its quiz at or above your organization’s Quiz Completion Threshold (Tenant Settings → Learning & Assessment; 100% by default).
  • Learners take the training assigned to them and can browse courses and learning paths on their own. Start with Taking an exercise.
  • Managers follow their team’s progress under Team Management.
  • Administrators build curricula, enrol people, run campaigns and report on compliance. Start with Finding your way around.
